Some Serious Play
"Native Americans have a higher poverty and unemployment rate when compared with the national average, but the rates are comparable to those of blacks and Hispanics. About one-in-four American Indians and Alaska Natives were living in poverty in 2012. Among those who identify as American Indian or Alaska Native as their only race, the poverty rate was 29.1% in 2012... The poverty rate at Standing Rock Reservation is 43.2%, nearly triple the national average, according to Census Bureau data. The reservation, which straddles North Dakota and South Dakota, has a population of 8,956, according to the Bureau of Indian Affairs."
"As long as tribes are denied the right to control their own resources, they will remain locked in poverty and dependence. But if tribes are given the dignity they deserve, they will have the opportunity to unleash the tremendous wealth of Indian nations."
"In addition to high poverty rates, many reservation residents must confront conditions of material hardship. Nearly ten percent of families on reservations are homeless. Many of these rely on friends or relatives for temporary housing.A vast majority of reservation residents live in what were built to be single-family homes."
"The average household size is 3.08, but there is much variation. In Oregon, some reservations average more than ten people in each home. In Wisconsin and California, large households are also common. In many cases, households take in relatives and friends for extended periods, but do not report this on official census records because of the fluidity of the arrangements. There is a need for further research on housing situations on reservations, as the decennial census does not provide reliable data."
These quotes from my research demonstrate the state of poverty that is experience by a majority of the Native populations in the United States of America. This state of poverty has led to decline in Native persons education attainment, economic development, and extremely poor living conditions.
Responses for a Report
1. Poverty has led to decline in education in Native Nations
2. Poverty in native nations has led to lower social economic status for native people
3. The government denies rights to resources on native lands of native people, resulting in poverty for native people.
Responses for a Review
1. Poor living conditions of Native people
2. Homelessness among Native people
3. Economic standing of Native nations

I think there are a couple of ways to present the information. I would prefer an essay with pictures but I also think that a short video clip with sound bytes of Native people in a poverty stricken state could draw more emotion and still be factual.
