ENG 2010
English 2010 focuses on four related aspects of rhetoric and composition: critical analysis, public writing, writing from sources, and multimedia composition. This course explore a number of different genres of writing common in academic contexts and in public writing situations by using a multidisciplinary approach to examine the creation, interpretation, and effect of protest/struggle literature as it occurs in print, film, sound, and other media. Through research, I inform myself and others about ongoing social justice issues, how to use genres to communicate ideas about those issues, and how to “play” with genres. We will focus on public discourses surrounding social justice issues, particularly on issues associated with SLCC’s 2015 Student Conference on Writing and Social Justice theme: “Landscapes of Struggle.”
